Summer is marching right along and now it’s time for daily August writing prompts.
How is your writing practice going?
If you’re not writing as often as you’d like, one simple technique that works is to schedule it into your calendar, whether that means writing it into a paper one or using a digital version. What’s important is that you write it wherever you write other appointments.
Then give this writing appointment with yourself the same priority as something you do every day without fail, like brushing your teeth.
Below are some writing prompts and phrases you can use in any way that works best for you. One idea is to use them with a theme in mind such as vacation, character development for a fiction story, plans for the holidays, or even journal-style writing to explore a difficult relationship. Or simply go into a free-write session and see where the pen takes you.
Yes, I do mean pen. Writing by hand can bring out a certain depth of emotion. Try it and see.
